Pre-class assignments are designed to gather information and production data specific to each participant's work environment. Class work and assignments are based on real world experiences and information provided by the participants and facilitators.

Participants prepare an action plan in each of the areas of responsibility specific to their operational needs and for each management principle that is specific to their skill development. All action plans will be followed up with each individual for three months to monitor implementation progress and success. All action plans are designed to impact the plants bottom line and provide a short and long term payback on your training investment.

Bringing this intensive 2-day class conveniently to your area reduces time your key production people will be gone from the plant, travel time and expense. We will be contacting your area 45 days prior to the course offering so you can sign up your key production personnel.

Agenda
Course begins at 8:00 a.m on Day One. Course ends at 4:30 p.m. on Day Two

We will focus on advanced management principles and skills built around the eight responsibilities of the supervisor:

  • Profit and the Eight Responsibilities
    • Overview of the eight responsibilities and their impact on the plants bottom line.
  • Communication
    • How we communicate is an important skill necessary to be a successful supervisor. Communication is more than verbal and to be effective it takes on various forms.
  • Leadership
    • Test yourself as we experience the challenge of case studies designed to sharpen these skills.
  • Action Planning
    • Designed to provide you with a road map for implementing bottom line change on your return to the plant.
  • Goal Setting, Measurement and Accountability
    • "People play the game by the rules that are established". Establish the goals, design a method for measuring and find out who the players really are.
  • Learning Principles and Training Tools
    • How do people learn? What are some effective methods and how do you design and implement an effective training program?
  • Change Implementation
    • How do you sell your ideas to your boss, his boss and the operators and crews? If you are to implement the ideas you have learned while attending this course this becomes an important skill set.
  • Analytical Skills and Decision Making
    • To have an impact on your plant requires you have these important skill sets. Successful organizations and people need these skills. Today's global economy and our cost conscious customers demand it. How do you manage a project, what are the important principles behind budgeting?
  • Facilitation and Team Building
    • We will look at some methods that will allow us to organize our crews to accomplish the companies and our individual objectives.

The four areas of responsibility we focus in depth on are:

  • Waste
    • We will focus on ways to identify and reduce waste. If you could save $84,000.00 from waste reduction what would you do with it.
  • Productivity
    • We will look at various productivity improvement methods and processes. 10% improvement in productivity could add $269,000 to your gross sales?
  • Quality
    • There are many quality processes out there. You had better find one that will work for you and you had better understand them because your customers may use all or some of these. You need to understand how your key customers keep score and why? What is the cost of non-conformance?
  • Housekeeping
    • It's more than sweeping and mopping. Good housekeeping practices impact waste, quality, productivity and safety. Learn about some of the programs available to attain "a place for everything and everything in its place".
